went to the exhibition of takato yamamoto at shinjuku kinokuniya for his 6th monograph: “coffin of a chimera” - he also has another exhibition running concurrently at maria cuore , so the works are split up - very impressive anyway - altho personally i think he reached the peak for the ero/necro thing with his last book: rib of a hermaphrodite - the artistic progression this time seems to be more symmetry, more art nouveau-ish backgrounds, more circular works… and, err, the off-centre mouths (see above) i never noticed before and are a bit perturbing - i hear mister takato is now experimenting with “real painting” (shhh, secret info!) which’ll doubtless be even more impressive? - oh, the book, as always for editions treville , comes in regular and special editions - i think the only difference is the latter has a different colour cover and is signed and numbered (500 copies) - but most all export books tend to be signed anyway (i’m forever signing piles of books)…
