went to the doll exhibition of etsuko miura and mari shimizu at parabolica-bis - and, surprise surprise, this time etsuko’s dolls were upstaged by mari’s! - perhaps merely by sheer numbers, there were only four etsuko miura dolls on show - they’ve reached a new level of sickness, mottled black, something akin to bubonic plague [...]

went to the doll exhibition of etsuko miura and mari shimizu at parabolica-bis - and, surprise surprise, this time etsuko’s dolls were upstaged by mari’s! - perhaps merely by sheer numbers, there were only four etsuko miura dolls on show - they’ve reached a new level of sickness, mottled black, something akin to bubonic plague or 90% body frostbite - k wanted to buy one of mari’s little bird sculptures but, as i was holding the purse strings, that was barred - nevertheless we looked at the pricelist which left us a little nonplussed her work is inexpensive yet barely selling - so over lemon tea (freely supplied - haha, the perk of being a “famous” artist!) we decided to check her dolls again - and picked out a mutated “caterpillar doll” to buy (photos to follow here a month from now, no doubt) - one of her big dolls would have been more ideal but we don’t have the space - the caterpillar can be suitably dropped into miura-chan ’s “cage” (display case) - then we’ll watch to see who eats who first…
