tiger, tiger : a memoir : a review

sold as a gut-wrenching account of how paedophiles manipulate their way into the lives of children but actually reads as a romance novel re a girl obsessed with a man old enough to be her grandfather - it’s being called a difficult book to read by everyone simply because it shockingly lacks the hysteria and finger-pointing requisite of books on this topic? - just a token incongruous anti-pedo statement tacked on the end as an afterword/afterthought (her final resolute sentence is neat tho) - it’s written with a certain degree of literary prowess - far removed from the child abuse chic pulp (i presume anyway - i’ve read none of those) - tho the writing style is sometimes annoying - she might go into superfluous detail re the content of sandwiches (how she can remember who was eating what on a certain day when she was only eight?) but other more important things are inadequately explained and key incidences skipped over (a diary with pages missing?) - altho deemed unacceptable for the subject matter a little humour might not have gone amiss either - this one rare sentence…
